Sadly my first post on “2 queens 1 blog”, with my fellow queen Brandon is that of sad news. Most of you who follow the news should have alread heard the news of Estelle Getty’s recent untimely departure from this world. She is most notable as the actress who played Sophia Petrillo on the late 80’s and early 90’s television sitcom known as “The Golden Girls”. This show is my very favorite show of all time, along with the science fiction show “The X-Files”. While “X-Files” may not be as popular in the gay community as it is with me, the “Golden Girls” certaintly was and still is a signature show of the gay community. The popular sitcom recruits more and more fans everyday despite its having come to an end long ago. Sadly Estelle Getty who played as Dorothy Zbornak’s mother (played by Bea Arthur) has suffered from dementia for quite a while, and strangely enough Estelle is younger than the actress Bea Arthur who played her daughter Dorothy. I am sure me, as well as many others will greatly miss her. Here’s to you Estelle! Thank you for being a friend!
